About

Welcome to the UM Dean Project blog.  The University of Michigan’s Dance Department is bringing Laura Dean (a contemporary American choreographer and composer) to Ann Arbor for the first revival in twenty-one years of one of her most well known works, Impact.  The Laura Dean Project itself is a culmination of workshops leading up to an audition, the re-staging of the work, and the performance in January led by Faculty member Amy Chavasse.  Laura Dean has been a very influential choreographer in the eyes of dance artists, critics, and audiences alike.  She is known for exhilarating and virtuosic music and choreography.  We are very excited for to see this piece come back to life on the Power Center stage in January.

I’m curious, was there any gathering of information from the dancers about their experience in this project? Congratulations on this and Sacre!

  2. Hi! To answer your question, yes, there was info collected both on this project as well as the Sacre project. Some of which is located on the blog, some of which I have in my own records. Do you need anything? if so please let me know and I can send you an email with my info.
